Welcome to The Jai Vilas Palace!
One of the most spectacular Neo-Classical Palaces in India, Jai Vilas Palace was built by Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia (R. 1843 to 1886) to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1876. Its European architecture was designed by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Michael Filose. The architecture of the palace has a strong Baroque influence, with long colonnades, pedimented windows, sweeping carriageways and axial views. It has been a family home of the Scindias for generations and continues to be so to this day.
