H.H. Maharaja Sir Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum

In 1964 the West wing of Jai Vilas Palace was converted into a museum by the Rajmata Shrimant Vijaya Raje Scindia in the memory of her Late husband H.H. Maharaja Sir George Jiwaji Rao Scindia. The Museum was opened to public by the then President of India H.E. Dr. Radhakrishnan on 12th December 1964. The H.H. Maharaja Sir Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum offers to the public a unique view of the palace created in the 19th and 20th Century. It showcases decorative arts of the period, from diverse places including Europe, India and the Far East. Lifestyle rooms give a glimpse into how the Royal family lived, whilst the object galleries display some important artworks and provide intriguing information about their history.
